Why does he have to be so MEAN.....

How can a boy this sweet be so mean!

Caden is a sweet boy with an even bigger heart. He has the best of intentions and loves his little brother, but boy can he be rough with him. I don't know if it's because they are boys or siblings or what, but I will be surprised if Keegan makes it to his 1st birthday without any battle wounds! The second I walk away from them Caden starts hitting and beating Keegan. It started with pushing and shoving now and again, then it was cutting his arm with wire cutters, sitting on him and punching his belly, and then slamming him with the door, but today takes the cake. I heard Keegan screaming hysterically and ran into his room to see Caden pulling on a beaded necklace that was wrapped around Keegan's neck. I about jumped out of my skin when I saw it. After examining Keegan and realizing he was OK I took a minute to talk with Caden. He didn't seem bothered by the situation or by Keegan's crying, just upset because he wanted the necklace and Keegan wouldn't give it to him. I know he has good intentions, but yikes!

He has his moment's where he is the sweetest boy in the world and then he decides to get rough. I'm not liking the rough side. I love when he's sweet and telling Keegan, "It's OK Chunker don't be sad!" or when he says that Daddy is his best friend. I mean, where is that kid when he's hitting Keegan. It's going to be a long road with these two.

Keegan is going to be one tough boy after Caden's through with him. I just hope Caden watches out because Keegan is going to be bigger than him real soon and paybacks are no fun!!

Trick or Trunk

Caden is very adamant about the fact that it's Trick or Trunk not Trunk or Treat. So we had our ward Trick or Trunk tonight. Caden had a blast walking around and saying trick or treat.

Hanging with the loot!!

Keegan with Caden's wings on. Caden doesn't like to wear his wings for some reason. I think they make the costume but he seems bothered by them. So we let Keegan try them on for size! He looks like something out of the Wizard of Oz. HA!

Thinking he's some cool guy!

My sweet boys after a long night of trick or trunk! SO sweet!!

Pumpkin Carving

We finally got around to carving the pumpkins we got at the pumpkin patch. Caden was so excited to scoop the guts out and make a big mess.

Gotta love that face!

Daddy did an awesome job carving the little goblin man. Way to go Daddy!! Caden was so proud of his and Daddy's pumpkin!

Checking it out with the light in it. You can't tell in the picture that it's dark outside and that there's a light in the pumpkin.

Our fun pumpkin. It's Caden's first year with a real pumpkin and it's definitely a great one.

Betty Crocker Here I Come...

OK, so I'm totally NOT Betty Crocker!! But I try - sometimes. I've been dying to try these cupcakes I saw in a magazine at work, but had a hard time justifying making that many cupcakes (we're not big sweets eaters in this house!). So I decided to make them for my Primary class and then let Caden take some to his daycare. The Primary kids loved them - then again, what sweets don't 5-6 year olds love!! Caden loved them as well and was so excited to share them with his friends at daycare.

My masterpiece!! They aren't perfect so don't look too hard at them! But they were so much fun to make!

An up close of the fun spiders and web!

Anyone for a fun Halloween cupcake??!!

Halloween Part 1

We had the opportunity to go to Jay's parents Trunk or Treat on Friday night. Caden was so excited to go trick or treating - it's starting to click this year! He ran up to everyone and announced that he was Buzz Lightyear and that Keegan was the Hulk! We enjoyed some chili and corn bread, a costume parade and then some fun trick or treating in the parking lot. Caden had a blast and Keegan loved all the lights and colors.

My handsome Buzz Lightyear. He ran into everything with those wings on!

My Hulk!! He was so stinkin' cute in that costume! I just want to eat him.

Caden and Maizee. Caden was so excited when he saw Maizee there. He ran up to her and announced that she was his girlfriend. They held hands while walking in the parade. It was so cute!!

Another shot of the hand holding. I had a hard time getting one where their hands weren't covered by wings!

Heading out to trick or treat with Grandma.

Pumpkin Patch

I finally had the chance to take the boys to the pumpkin patch. Caden was so excited to finally have a real pumpkin instead of the fake one we have been plugging in the past few years! The place was a lot busier that I thought it would be on a Thursday morning, but none the less we had a blast.

I think Caden liked the animals more than anything. He's always been an animal lover so checking out the horses and cows was a must!

He was trying to talk to the horse when he lifted his head. Caden started cracking up and saying the horse was going to eat him!

Next we wondered around through the corn maze. When I saw wandered, I mean wandered! We got lost bad, but thankfully there were other people wandering around with a map so we just followed them out! This is the only picture of the boys I could get. Caden was too enthralled with the corn to pay any attention to me taking his picture! We ended up bring corn from one of the stocks home. It's gross, but Caden "had to have it!!"

Here's my Keegan man hanging out and having a good time. He loved being out and about today. The only thing I heard from him the entire adventure was his high pitched squeal he does when he's happy!

Just before we left Caden had to see the ducks. They were quacking away and Caden couldn't understand why they didn't say "quack" but sort of honk instead. He thought it was hilarious that they honk really loud and this is him cracking up at the honking ducks!

Keegan sitting so nicely while watching his crazy brother climb all over the pumpkins! I really wanted a picture of the boys by the pumpkins, but the bright sun was not helping. You can't even tell what half my pictures are because of the brightness.

Caden chillin' amongst the pumpkins. He was so excited to pick a "really big pumpkin" so daddy has lots of guts to pull out!!

8 months already

I can't believe my little man is already 8 months old. It seems like I just had him and yet like he's been with us forever. Then again, he has been with us forever!

He's a mama's boy all the way! It's sweet to have a mama's boy, but sometimes it gets to be a lot. He wants mom to hold him at all times and has a fit if I leave the room. He loves his big brother and follows him all over the place. He is an outside boy (so he fits right in!) and wants to do all the things that Caden does.

He's been a tough baby and has taught me a lot about myself along the way. I'm so grateful to have him as my son and for his presence in our family! I love you Chunker Monker!!

A little TLC

So apparently my Tylenol and nap for Keegan didn't do the trick. I finally took him to the pediatrician and it turns out he has the early stages of croup. So not fun! Keegan is a very whiny and needy sick baby. I felt so bad for him. He couldn't breath through his nose so sucking on a bottle was not fun. I was feeding him with a syringe and he was not enjoying that. Thankfully the steroids the doctor gave us have helped along with a steam shower and humidifier. I think we are on the road to recovery! Finally!!

Since we've been cooped up in the house since Thursday with two sick kids, getting out was a must today. We were able to have a nice afternoon relaxing and taking advantage of the beautiful weather outside.

Keegan enjoying sitting in a big boy chair. He loves to be outside, thank goodness!!

Caden pretending to throw the ball at me! I love that face! So mischievous!!

His riding face. He was getting really close to running Keegan and I over.

Mommy and her boys!!

This is where Keegan is at all times - attached to Mom. Being sick has just made it worse! I am not allowed out of his sight and the second he lays eyes on me he's all tears until I pick him up.

Mom's little helper

Caden loves to help. He likes to be a part of something and loves to do whatever Mom does. So today I decided it would be fun to make some brownies. Caden loves to help make brownies because I let him lick the spoon!! Then again, who doesn't like to lick the spoon!

He was so excited to sit on the counter and help out!

Stirring away. He would get so upset if I took the whisk from him to help.

Concentrating so hard.

The best part - licking the spoon!

This is just a small glimpse of the final mess. It was a disaster but he loved it.

Our finished product. Yes, they were delicious!!

Pre-Halloween

We ordered the boys halloween costumes online so we did a "try-on session" with them to make sure everything fit ok. I couldn't get Caden to take his off and he kept asking when we were going to go trick or treating. Poor kid - halloween can't come fast enough.

My Buzz Lightyear!

And The Hulk!!

Sick Days

Sick kids are absolutely no fun! Especially when you have two sick ones at the same time. It's not too bad with Keegan because I can just give him Tylenol and lay him down to sleep and he's a hundred times better when he wakes up. But Caden is a whole different ballgame. My sweet boy cannot and will not take medicine. He throws up everything and has since he was a newborn. I don't know what it is but he would rather have a Tylenol suppository than a chewable tablet. Whatever works. I'm just so thankful for the pediatrician who recommended the suppositories because before that he just had to tough it out.

Nutin But Fun

I couldn't pass up this picture. Yes I am the mean mom that dresses her kids the same (not exactly the same but similar - black t-shirts and camo shorts). I didn't plan it, but in the end I thought it was cute! So here's my handsome boys showing off their personalities so perfectly!

OK, now on to the fun. I decided to take advantage of a free coupon to a place called Nutin But Fun. The owner was a patient at the physical therapy office I work at and gave me a couple passes to bring the boys. I've had the coupons since February and finally got around to it. Why didn't I go there sooner?! That place was awesome. Caden absolutely loved it and was not too excited to leave. Keegan also enjoyed playing with some new toys and have new surroundings to check out.

Caden enjoying the slide.

A proud Mommy and her boy!

Auntie and Keegan. I'm so glad she was able to spend the day with us and get in on the fun!!

Here I am with both boys! I was so excited to take Keegan on the slide. He was a bit startled at first, but handled it like a champ!! It was definitely a great way to exhaust my boys and get out of the heat for a little while.

Standing

Keegan has been standing (while holding on) for a few weeks now and I finally managed to capture the moment.

He loves to stand at his toy box and pick out his own toy. Apparently the ones I pick for him aren't good enough anymore!

He finally noticed me taking pictures of him!

An up close grin. I love this picture because you can see his two bottom teeth that have finally decided to make their debut.

What is up with that tongue. Keegan has this obsession with his tongue and loves to stick it out.

I couldn't put all these pictures up without one of Caden. Here he is right after a much needed haircut. I was trying to grow his hair out a bit, but it was not cooperating so I finally broke down and cut it off. He looks so handsome with his hair short and older too.
